Lash Publications International is Receives Third APEX Award
Lash Publications International is pleased to announce that it has received
its third APEX Award of Excellence from Communications Concepts, Inc. APEX
Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the
ability to achieve overall communications excellence. APEX Grand Awards honor
the outstanding works in each of the 11 main categories: newsletters, magazines
and journals, magapapers and newspapers, annual reports,
brochures/manuals/reports, video and multimedia publications, Web and Intranet
sites, campaigns/programs/plans, writing, design and illustration, and special
publications. APEX Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional entries in each of
the 96 sub-categories. The panel of judges included Dr. Paul Fisher, formerly
Professor of Journalism with the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
APEX is the Annual Awards for Publication Excellence Competition. It is open to
communicators in corporate, nonprofit and independent settings. This is the
twelfth annual APEX, which began in 1988. APEX is sponsored by the editors of
Writing That Works, the newsletter for communicators who write, edit and manage
business publications. Writing That Works is published by Communications
Concepts, Inc., providing problem-solving information to professional
communicators since 1984.
This year's competition, the Twelfth Annual Awards for Publication Excellence,
received over 4900 entries and the writing category received over 760 entries.
Lash Publications received an Award of Excellence in the personality profile
sub-category of the writing category for the article, "Mary
Ross: First Native American Female Engineer," written by Laurel M. Sheppard,
which was the cover story in the November/December 1999 issue of SWE magazine
(published by the Society of Women Engineers). The article profiled the life and
career of this pioneering engineer, who was also the first female engineer at
Lockheed Martin.
Lash Publications received its first APEX Award of Excellence in the technical
writing sub-category in 1996 for a chapter on recycling of ceramics and glass,
published in ASM International's Engineered Materials Handbook, Desk Edition.
Lash Publications second APEX Award of Excellence was received in 1999 in the
feature writing sub-category for the article, "Moving
R&D Into the Networking Fastlane," which was the cover story in the
November/December 1998 issue of SWE magazine
